Michael H. Golinghorst

    Mountain Lake: A Memorial Service for Michael H. Golinghorst, 72, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota and formerly of Sherburn, Minnesota, will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Trimont Covenant Church. Those wishing to view a live stream of the service may do so at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/a26076680815388   Burial will be in the Sherburn Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Michael passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, July 19, 2026, at the Mountain Lake Good Samaritan Village.      
   The Kramer Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont, and Welcome, Minnesota is in care of Michael’s arrangements.
  Michael Harvey Golinghorst was born on December 3, 1953, in Trimont, MN.  He was the son of Harvey and Barbara (Pelley) Golinghorst.  Mike attended Sherburn public schools and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1971.  He furthered his education in Moorhead, MN.  Mike was a life-long member of Trimont Covenant Church where he was baptized and later worked with the Christian Missionary Alliance.  
   Mike was a high school band director in South Dakota for a few years.  He later worked as a Private Eye and then a police officer.  Mike then worked as an electronic technician with his brother, Scott, at New Star Sales and Service.
     Mike was united in marriage to Linda Nawrocki and was blessed with a son, Franklin.
     Mike was later united in marriage to Shari McMullen and was blessed with daughters, Sara and Britta.
    Mike had a passion for music throughout his entire life and listened to all kinds.  He enjoyed anything cowboy and western as well as being outdoors where he liked to hunt, fish, and shoot his Fanner50 pistol.  Mike would always watch the Indianapolis 500 and other forms of racing. His love of cars was evident when he would show off his yellow Camaro.  Mike most cherished the dogs he had over the years.
    Left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Sara Mioli B Nienke, and Britta Diaz; grandchildren, Jerik and Everest Nienke, and McKenna Diaz; mother, Barbara Golinghorst; siblings, Scott (Lori Jeanne) Golinghorst, Lori (Marty) Moon, Marc (Trish) Golinghorst, and Brett (Dalena) Golinghorst; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.       Along with his father, Harney Golinghorst, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Franklin; and grandparents, Clair Pelley, and Gladys Zweiful.
