A memorial service celebrating the life of Cindy Bee Nelson, 69, of Mankato, MN, formerly of rural Trimont, MN, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Trimont Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, MN. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Trimont, MN. The Kramer Funeral Home of Welcome, Sherburn and Trimont, MN, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Cindy gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Laurels Peak in Mankato, MN, passing peacefully with family at her bedside. She had been blessed with an additional 25 years after receiving a life-saving liver transplant in 2001.
Cindy Bee Nelson was born in Trimont, MN, on January 1, 1957, Martin County's New Year's Baby. She was the 6[th] Child born to Ted and Opal (Morgan) Kittleson of Ceylon, MN. She got her unique middle name "the Bee is for beautiful," her father said, "because she was the most beautiful baby he had ever seen."
Cindy grew up on the family farm in rural Ceylon, attended school in Ceylon, graduating in 1975 and college in Worthington, MN. She met her husband, Dave Nelson while working at Casey's - he'd stop in to buy one small item just so he could see the pretty girl behind the counter. Together they had 2 children, Andrew Nelson (St. James, MN) and Anita Nelson (Worthington, MN). Andy became a great source of pride for Cindy as his musical and artistic talents showcased his special gifts. She was especially proud of him achieving his Eagle Scout ranking. Anita has always been cute as a button, she could charm her way into even the chilliest of hearts. She looks like her dad, but she has Cindy's smile.
Cindy was a poet at heart. Many of her poems are published in her book "The Path Less Traveled". Some were put into song and became family favorites. Some were simply a part of her daily diary which she faithfully kept beginning in her early 20's `til just days before her passing.
Cindy was a collector. Her favorite thing to do was to go thrifting, seeking just one more treasure to add. She loved to cook, sew, and paint. But most of all, she loved to play her guitar and sing. Cindy was a member of the Bee Kays country western band, singing lead and harmony and playing rhythm guitar for an amazing 55 years. Music is in her soul. No doubt she is singing with the angels up there in Heaven.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband, David "Monkey" Nelson; parents, Ted and Opal Kittleson; a brother, Robert Kittleson; and several in-laws.
Left to cherish her memory and her life are her children, Andrew Nelson and Anita Nelson; siblings, Biny (Jim) Claussen of Sherburn, MN, Bryon (Kristy) Kittleson of Welcome, MN, BonnieSue Bennett of Fairmont, MN, Betty (Tom) Egan of Blaine, MN, Billye Kruse of Ormsby, MN, and Barb (Gary) Schmidt of Vesta, MN; brother-in-law, Kevin Nelson of Trimont, MN; sister-in-law, Mary Egan Kittleson of Ceylon, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including her new family at Laurels Peak.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Cindy's name to the family and directed to the Kramer Funeral Home P.O. Box K, Trimont, MN, 56176.
While saying good-bye is so very hard, there are those on the other side who are gladly greeting her with a joyous "Welcome Home, Cindy!"
