Weldon LeRoy Loos was born on February 16, 1931, to Adam and Bernice (Gettler) Loos in Manyaska Township, Martin County, MN. He received his education from Sherburn School.
On February 1, 1953, Weldon was united in marriage to Faira Mae Scheff at the Methodist Church in Sherburn. This marriage was blessed with four children, Steven, Vicki, Kathy and Patty. After their marriage they lived in Joliet, IL for one year before moving back to Sherburn. Weldon worked for many years for Midland Cooperative and then later for Ringnell Mobil. Weldon was a longtime, faithful member of Regional Worship Center in Sherburn.
Weldon had a love for trains—their power, their rhythm, and the stories they carried from place to place. Whether standing trackside or simply listening for the distant whistle, he found a quiet joy in train watching. He also cherished time spent traveling, especially to the Badlands and the Black Hills. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of seventy-three years, Faira Mae Loos of Sherburn; four children, Steven J. (Tammy) Loos of Sherburn, Vicki (Loren) Lutterman of Sherburn, Kathy Nelson of Dunnell and Patty (Mark) Bakken of Ormsby; eleven grandchildren, Chris Loos, Adam Loos, Sommer (Matt) Kleve, Tony (Emily) Nelson, Josh (Erin) Lutterman, Jake (Lacey) Lutterman, Jesse (Clarrissa) Lutterman, Randy (Janessa) Bakken, Amanda (Mike) Kleinschmidt, Thomas Struthers and Cassandra Struthers; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Janet “Jenny”; brother, Donald (Janet); and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Bernice Loos; son-in-law, Daniel Nelson; sisters, Barb (Melvin) and Helen (Al) and brother-in-law, Ernie.
