SHERBURN: Odell V. VanHyfte, 91 of Sherburn, Minnesota passed away at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont, Minnesota on Monday morning, December 29, 2025.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Kramer Funeral Home, (107 North Osborne St.) Sherburn Minnesota.
The Kramer Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, Minnesota is in charge of Odell’s arrangements.

Odell Victor VanHyfte was born on July 30, 1934 to Herman and Stephanie (Dollander) VanHyfte on the family farm in Burton Township, rural Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine county, Minnesota. He received his education in a rural country school through the 8th grade. He served in the US Army from 1958-1959 where he was stationed in Germany.
In the 1960’s he was employed as a semi-truck driver. He then worked road construction for many years where he operated a Caterpillar bulldozer until his retirement in 1999. After he retired, he drove cars for several car dealerships in the area. In 1973 he came to the Sherburn area where he helped build Interstate 90. In 1975 he met Cindy Schwager who became his loving partner for 50 years, they have a daughter, Tara. He enjoyed watching TV, especially westerns, going to coffee with his buddies and taking a drive to check out what was happening around the area. He also loved the many pets he had over the years.
He is survived by his loving partner Cindy Schwager of Sherburn, Minnesota, daughters; Tara Schwager of Mankato, Minnesota and Leslie (Gary) Fier of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, sister Audrey Kack of Candby Minnesota and other relatives.
Odell is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Stephanie VanHyfte, sister Agnes Swanson and other relatives.
