Michael Wayne “Mickey” Lutz was born on March 10, 1942, to Cecil and Peggy (Smith) Lutz in
Winnebago, MN. When his father Cecil was deployed in the Army during WW2, Mickey and his
mother lived with Cecil’s parents, Ray and Florence, on the family farm in Granada. He grew up
on the farm helping his grandpa with farm work. After high school, Mickey began working at
Fairmont Railway Motors, and later as a truck driver for Sather Trucking out of Round Lake, MN.
Mickey spent much of his life on the road, and drove millions of miles across the United States
and never had an accident. When he wasn’t driving, he enjoyed spending time with his family
and friends. He was very proud of his 1939 Chevrolet, and enjoyed being a member of the
Borderline Cruisers and the Lakesters car clubs and attending different car shows when he was
able.
