Ruthe M. Young

WELCOME: A Funeral Service for Ruthe M. Young, 90, of Welcome, Minnesota  will be 12:00 p.m., Noon, Friday, October 31, 2025  at Trinity Lutheran Church (204 2nd St) in Welcome, Minnesota. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota at a later date.
     Ruthe was called to her eternal rest on Saturday morning, October 25, 2025 at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn, Minnesota.  Visitation will be from  4:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025 and 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2025 until the time of the funeral service all  at the Church in Welcome.

     Ruthe Marilyn Archer was born on October 14, 1935 to Frank and Hilda (Fester) Archer in Brandon, South Dakota.  She received her education in Brandon and later graduated with the class of 1953.  On January 21, 1956 she was united in marriage to Ron Swenson in Brandon, South Dakota.  They were blessed with  three children, Penne, Jill and Tim.  They lived in the Brandon area until 1971 when they moved to Welcome, Minnesota.  They later were divorced.  Ruthe raised the family and worked at Montgomery Wards, Brett’s Clothing Store and Jake’s Pizza for many years all in Fairmont.  On August 25, 1979 she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Young.  They lived in Welcome until Bob’s death. In 2017 she made her home at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn.   Ruthe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome and she sang in the church choir.  She also attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, Minnesota with her husband, Bob.  She greatly enjoyed shopping, traveling, music and singing.

She is survived by her daughter, Penne and Bruce Stelter of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota; son, Tim Swenson of Mankato, Minnesota; a grandson, Timmie Swenson; son-in-law, Frankie Russo of Ocala, Florida;  sisters-in-law, Arlene Swenson of Mankato, Minnesota and Carol Archer of Brandon, South Dakota; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
     Ruthe was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hilda Archer; husbands, Ron Swenson, Robert “Bob” Young; daughter, Jill Swenson Russo and other relatives.
     In lieu of flowers, Ruthe’s family would like memorials be given to your donors choice.
     Ruthe’s family would like to thank the staff of Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn for their care, compassion and concern given to Ruthe.
