SHERBURN: A Celebration of Life Service for Marlene Ann Kuntz, 88, of Sherburn, Minnesota will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. Burial will be held Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
Marlene passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, Minnesota on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, Minnesota is assist

Marlene Ann (Hoover) Kuntz was born on August 8, 1937, in Fairmont, MN. She was the daughter of Lyle and Alice (Niss) Hoover. Marlene was baptized as an infant on November 26, 1937, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 8, 1951, both at St. John’s Evangelical and Reform Church in Fairmont. After Marlene graduated from Fairmont High School, she began working as a secretary at the Fairmont Sentinel.
On June 3, 1956, Marlene was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Kuntz at St. John’s Evangelical and Reform Church in Fairmont. The couple resided in rural Sherburn and raised their daughters, Sherly, Pamela, Diane, and Kathryn. Marlene and Chuck shared over sixty-seven years before Chuck passed away on January 15, 2024.
Marlene worked for Seifert’s Drug before going to work at Farmers State Bank in Sherburn. She worked as a teller, a secretary, and handled many other tasks there for 35 years. Even after retirement, Marlene would go in to cover for people when there were out on vacation, maternity leave, or illness. When she wasn’t busy working, Marlene loved quilting. She was also a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church including the LWML, Bible study, and Friendship club, as well as being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sheryl Gaare (Mark Hobbs), Pamela (Todd) Heifner, Diane Kuntz, and Kathy Olson (Dean Schumacher); grandchildren, Jeffery Sorum, Molly Gaare, Kevin (Andrea) Gaare, Amanda Olson (Chris Roberts), and Matthew Olson; five great grandchildren, Addison, Chloe, Isabella, Nellie, and Wyatt; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Lyle Hoover and Alice Hecht, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Kuntz; grandson, Joshua Olson; brother, Tom Hoover; and sister-in-law, Barb Hagen.
