ORMSBY: A Service Of Remembrance for Mary Ellen Winkelman, 89, of rural Ormsby,
Minnesota will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena
Township, rural Ormsby, Minnesota.
Mary was called to her eternal rest on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2025 at Riley Crossing
Senior Living in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service
at the church on Saturday. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Welcome, Sherburn, and
Trimont, MN, is assisting the family with arrangements

Mary Ellen Winkelman was born on December 25, 1935, to Raymond and Roberta Mueller in
Trimont, MN. She was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena
Township. Mary attended school in St. James and graduated with the class of 1953.
After graduation, Mary attended Northwest Institute of Medical Technology, and worked at the
Trimont Hospital and later at the Fairmont Clinic as a lab and x-ray technician.
On December 8th, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to DeWayne (Swede) Winkelman at
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township. They lived on their farm in rural Ormsby, and
raised cattle and hogs.
Mary loved spending time on the farm with Max her black lab, tinkering around the farm,
gardening, bird watching and mowing lawn. Fondest memories were getting together with her
sisters and brothers and all the nieces and nephews for family gatherings. Mary and Swede
loved to go to Lake of the Woods and stay at Morris Point Resort while fishing for walleye. They
also loved spending time with their special friends Fran and Marlene Kettler in Arizona during
the winter months.
Mary is survived by her son, Michael (Deb) of Victoria, MN and daughter Leah (Josh) Sandbo of
Becker, MN; six grandchildren, Natalie, Darren, Lauren, Blake, Bennett, Nolan, and one great-
grandchild James; sisters JoAnn (Robert) Hilgendorf of rural Trimont, Minnesota, Melanie
(Richard) Hunstad of North Mankato, and Linda Winkelman of rural Ormsby; many nieces
and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne Winkelman; parents, Raymond and
Roberta Mueller; in-laws Henry and Eleanore Winkelman; brother Ken Mueller of San Antonio,
TX and brother Thomas Mueller of rural St. James, MN.
